I recently graduated from the University of California Davis with a B.S. Nutrition Science and a minor in Russian. I am now preparing to apply to Midwifery school in the coming year. In addition to being a DONA certified Birth Doula I am also a CPR instructor for the American Red Cross. I’ve also attended a 10 week Bradley Class and spend a lot of time researching, reading and discovering new things about birth and babies. In addition, I am a volunteer Doula at the San Francisco General Hospital.
I immigrated to America from St.Petersburg, Russia in 1995 when I was 8 years old with my parents and my sister. In Russia my father was a doctor and my mom an English teacher. Both of my parents are very passionate about helping people and have always encouraged me to be a caring and kind person.
I believe that my close relationship with my parents and the rest of my family is what has driven me towards this field. Family is the most important and most cherished part of my life and I believe that being able to help others start their own families is an extremely rewarding and sacred experience.

I received my doula training from Working Woman Productions in San Francisco, and am both honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to support women as they bring new life into the world. My interest in birth was first inspired by my sister, who is also a doula, and by my own mother, whose love and support has been a source of empowerment through every turn my life has taken, and there have been many.
My background is in biology and science education. After receiving my bachelors from UC Berkeley, I went to work with children at the Exploratorium. It was there that I became interested in supporting families more directly. I also have a long standing interest in medical ethics, and believe that women in labor should be nurtured and respected as they undertake one of life's most amazing transformations.
